ARTESIA - WANDERINGS (CD/PRIKOSNOVENIE) The fourth album by Artesia opens the doors to a magical world of fairytales, dragons, knights and unicorns. Agatha's angelic voice is backed by cello, resonating drums, violin and more. Symphonic, melancholic and powerful.
MEDIAVOLO - MODERN CAUSE (CD/PRIKOSNOVENIE) The follow up to 'Unaltered Empire' is a fine, sensitive and eclectic collection. Mediavolo take the best of '60s pop, '70s artists s.a. Kate Bush, '80s wave à la The Cure, '90s underground in the vein of Blonde Redhead, and contemporary indie bands, f.i. Arcade Fire. As a result 'Modern Cause' is an intriguing set that sounds retro and contemporary at the same time.
DIE ZORROS - FUTURE (LP-CD/VOODOO RHYTHM) Formed around the perverted talents of the highly respected (Rev) Beat-Man, Olifr M. Guz (Die Aeronauten) and Patrick Abt, Die Zorros deliver 17 merciless slices of raving mad screwed up dada beat. The LP edition also includes a CD version of the album.
SYLVESTER ANFANG II - PERZISCHE TAPIJTEN (LP/GREAT POP SUPPLEMENT) This epic full length from Flemish kraut/psych/jam masters Sylvester Anfang II features six super heavy, wacked out, extended jams. The title, meaning 'Persian Rugs', was chosen due to the increased amount of Eastern influences. These deliciously trippy vibes come with beautiful artwork. Limited to 500 copies.
RAPOON - STRAY (CD/SOLEILMOON) Although Rapoon has released more than 50 albums and singles over the past 20 years, this new collection does add something to that impressive output. You get a women's choir, the sounds of tropical songbirds, off-world rhythms, valleys, canyons, mountain tops and much more. Improvisational, acoustic, electronic, and artfully arranged, the music of Rapoon is the auditory manifestation of impressionism. Limited edition (330 copies only) with exquisite artwork.
REFORMED FACTION - I AM THE SOURCE OF LIGHT, I AM NOT A MIRROR (2CD/SOLEILMOON) The 2012 edition of this highly regarded work is released as a double CD in a jewel box. It includes a 12 page full-colour booklet featuring the work of East German artist Ira Tannheuser.
REFORMED FACTION - THE WAR AGAINST... (CD/SOLEILMOON) A reissue of the second album by Reformed Action, the band featuring Robin Storey (Rapoon) and Mark Spybey from Zoviet France. This 2012 reissue of "The War Against" is presented in a tastefully screen printed slipcase.
REFORMED FACTION - THE WORLD AWAKE!/11 STUECK (2CD/SOLEILMOON) The awesome new double CD release from Reformed Faction basically consists of two recording sessions. 'The World Awake! 'was originally intended for a vinyl release and offers improvisations recorded in November, 2009. '11 Stueck' was also compiled from improvisations, this time recorded on December 1st, 2009. This session included drummer Christian Alderson and bass player Oscar Ruiz Fernandez.
STONE AXE - STONE AXE II (DELUXE) (2CD/RIPPLE MUSIC) New deluxe edition of the classic second album from these classic rock preservationists. Here the original version of 'Stone Axe II' is accompanied by a second CD, packed with 15 more obscure tracks from the Stone Axe back catalogue, including a cover tune from Cream, as well as a version of 'Black Widow' from the very first incarnation of the band.
ELECTRIC MOON/HYPNOTIZED NOT PARALYZED - POP ART ACCIDENT/ESCAPIST ATTEMPT (7"/TRANSUBSTANS) The second issue of the Transubstans vinyl club features an exclusive and very spaced out track from Germany's Electric Moon. On the flip newcomers Hypnotized Not Paralyzed present themselves as welcome newcomers to the international stoner community. On black and coloured vinyl.
60’s & 70’s & 80’s (RE-)RELEASES AND ARTISTS + OTHER OLDIES
LE SUPER BORGOU DE PARAKOU - THE BARIBA SOUND (2LP-CD/ANALOG AFRICA) Analog Africa comes up with a next ultra exciting release of lost (and found) African '70s sounds. This band hailed from Benin, where they set the scene on fire with their unique mixture of Islamic funk, heart warming soul, energetic rumba, crazy Afro-beat and steamin' rock. Le Super Borgou De Parakou were also featured on the highly regarded compilation 'African Scream Contest'.
PANOS SAVVOPOULOS - DIA TAFTA (LP+7"/ANAZITISI) A highly interesting release of Greek underground acid-folk, recorded between 1967 and 1978. Due to the time this musician spent in Sweden, some of this music also reveals strong influences from Northern folk and psychedelia. 'Dia Tafta' includes recordings made to accompany a movie and (on the bonus 7") a theatre play by Jacques Prevert. Available on 180 gram black and coloured vinyl with loads of info and pix. A very special and tasteful title!
BIG BOY PETE - COLD TURKEY (CD/GEARFAB) Though Big Boy Pete (a.k.a. Roger Miller) remained an obscurity back in the day, this unique English musician made loads of recordings in the '60s. Many of his strange, playful popsike and freakbeat songs were released in the '90s (on various compilations from various labels) resulting in a genuine cult reputation. 'Cold Turkey' offers 12 more lost, psyched out gems from the vaults of Big Boy Pete.
DRAGONMILK - WOLFMAN MACABRE (CD/AUDIO ARCHIVES) 'Wolfman Macabre' represents the original and earliest incarnation of east London based band Dragonmilk. The set features crazed vocals and a cool Hammond organ sound dominating a mix of original material and period classics, recorded live in 1972. Including new liner notes and various archive memorabilia, this is a newly updated edition of this relevant title.
